Privacy Policy

1. Overview & Core Philosophy

Instant Typing (instanttyping.com) is built on a privacy-first architecture. We believe that your typing speed and keystroke patterns are personal data. Unlike traditional typing platforms that log keystrokes to external servers or require mandatory account creation, our core test engine runs completely inside your local browser runtime.

2. Local Storage & Cookie Disclosures

We do not use invasive third-party tracking cookies. We utilize your browser's modern Web Storage API (localStorage) strictly for functional application state:

  • ptt_test_history_v1: Stores your last 50 completed typing test results (Net WPM, accuracy, date) locally on your device.
  • ptt_theme: Remembers your selected color theme (Light or Dark mode).
  • ptt_audio_enabled: Saves your mechanical keyboard click sound preference.
  • ptt_cookie_consent: Records your acceptance of local browser storage preferences.

You can clear this data at any time by wiping your browser site data or clearing cache in your browser settings.

3. Keystroke Privacy

We do not transmit your keystrokes to any remote server. Keystroke inputs are processed purely in client-side JavaScript to compute live WPM, accuracy, and error states. Keystroke data is never sold, shared, or analyzed for behavioral profiling.

4. Analytics & Web Measurement

To understand aggregate site traffic and ensure optimal server performance, we may collect anonymized telemetry such as browser user-agent, operating system, and page views. No personally identifiable information (PII) is attached to these telemetry events.

5. GDPR & CCPA Compliance

Under European GDPR and California CCPA regulations, you have the right to access, rectify, or request deletion of any data associated with your interaction. Since we do not maintain accounts or store identifiable records on remote databases, deleting your local browser storage completely removes all traces of your activity.

6. Contact Information
